The 3 Rs: Reading, Reviews & Recs.
Let's chat about books!
Cheryl shares her story of hiking a portion of the Pacific Coast Trail (PCT) - her trials and tribulations. Through the telling of her Northwest adventure, she also shares the details of a mid 20 meltdown she had following the death of her mother. Each step of her journey opens a raw wound that needs to be healed - and Cheryl is not shy about sharing the details of these mistakes. I have to admit that I'm a trail memoir junkie - for the very reason that's at the heart of this memoir. Most of the folks who share stories of the trail are overcomers, and their stories are filled with inspiration. Cheryl is no exception. In real life, I'm not sure I would actually get along with her, but in her memoir, she is broken, lost and looking for a way out of this despair. And haven't we all been there? I've been there. Her climb out is dramatic. I was almost expecting her to find God in it all. And maybe in her own way, she did.
