Tristan visits the sister of one of his WWI army buddies to purge his soul of the guilt of the Great War and revisit the events surrounding his platoon's deployment and engagement.This was not the book I was expecting. I guess I didn't know what I was expecting, but this was not a book I would have picked for myself. It was quite emotional, very morose and took some twists and turns. It was not possible for this book to have a happy ending, although the one the author created had a bit of surprise in it.Boyne's writing is outstanding. The plot had lots of twists and turns. While the reader has a sense of some of the events before they are shared, he has no idea how these things he suspects will make their appearance.Recommend to lovers of War Fiction. This one is a heart breaker.
