I do enjoy Lisa Samson's writing and mostly her characters. This one was no exception. I loved the way the story is told - a link between past and present, the memoir of a nun, whose story is not quite what you might think upon start. There are so many surprises along the way. Really, it's not what you expect. It's like a mystery in a way. Except you really don't know that there's anything that you should be looking for until she drops it in your lap. Then you want to know more and more. Surprise upon surprise, piece upon piece until finally the last of it is fit. It's the story of beautiful lives - lives that are made beautiful by working through tremendous tragedies.
