I loved this book! I have read 9 other AT memoirs this year, and this one has to be one of my favorites. Why? Tanner Critz is taking a semester off of college to hike the Appalachian trail, although he's not sure why. At some point during the early part of the journey, he finds himself and his pack. His trip becomes a right of passage, an adventure, a romantic odyssey of sorts. Part "Stand By Me", and part "Goonies", Wayah (Critz's trail name) takes a 2160 mile journey from his past to his future. What I loved about this book most was that it was not a chronicle of every single footstep. It was really the story of Wayah the wolf, with the AT as a supporting character. Wayah becomes one with the trail and his pack - learning more about himself and life.Great, great read!!!!
