The 3 Rs: Reading, Reviews & Recs.
Let's chat about books!
I never thought there was such a thing as a lite murder mystery, but this is it. It's a fast moving, quick paced story. Nell escapes to her grandmother's home following her fiance breaking up with her. While her plans are to just "stay the weekend" in this sleepy little town, things start happening that change her life even more. When the handyman turns up dead in Granny's shop, there is a scramble to discover who done it? Will Nell be reconciled with her fiance? Will she find more than she imagined as she searches for the answers to the crime.Since the book was told through the eyes of the main character, I felt like she should have had more introspective thoughts. I didn't really know her that well, other than her curiosity for what was around her, and an occasional recollection that came forth. I felt the same for most of the characters. Except maybe the dead guy, as we saw him through all his relationships with the various suspects.I felt that the end fell short in light of a lot of suspense and details that built up around it. The reader had no opportunity to really figure it out, as the information just wasn't really there. I honestly didn't like the solution or even that the victim had been killed at all. It just made me sad. Not waiting around for #2 and #3 on this series. On a positive note, there was no heavy lusting with explicit detail on the male characters, nor any mention of tingling private parts. Always annoys me.
