Why is it that kids have fallen out of love with reading? Is it because of video games or TV ....or is because they have never been given the chance to learn how to appreciate the art of reading? Has standardized testing and programs like Accelerated reading sucked all the fun of books out of today's students?

Miller focases more on the "how tos" that she uses in her classroom to motivate her students to read - mostly by providing Independent Reading Time and allowing them to choose their own books. Students have to read books in a variety of categories and are required to read 40 books in one year. But, she recognizes successes when she see them.

This is a great resource for teachers and even for homeschooling moms who might have a tough reader nut to crack.
